Nanion Technologies is a rapidly growing instrumentation company offering automated ion channel screening workstations serving industry and academic research institutions. To support the increasing demand of Nanion’s products, and to continue to give premium customer service, Nanion now expands the electrophysiology team in China.
Nanion currently has three product families consisting of instruments, software and consumables for planar, automated electrophysiology. The Port-a-Patch© (NPC©-1) is the world’s smallest patch clamp rig, performing recordings from one cell at a time or lipid membrane (bilayer) recordings. The Patchliner© (NPC©-16) is a fully robotic system with vast experimental freedom. The SyncroPatch 96 is a high quality ion channel screening system for screening of both ligand- and voltage-gated channels. All platforms have been well received in the pharmaceutical industry as well as prestigious research institutions around the world because of the provided excellent data quality and increased throughput and unprecedented experimental possibilities.
Nanion is currently looking for an Application Scientist to join the China branch of Nanion. The successful candidate will contribute to the marketing and sales activities including product demonstrations, installation trainings and trade show participation.
A thorough experience in electrophysiology is a must, with a preference for having worked with compound profiling against ion channel targets in an HTS setting. Experience of automated patch clamp platforms (Patchliner, IonWorks, QPatch, or PatchXpress) is considered very positively for the applicant.

Profile and Requirements
The applicant should have a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in electrophysiology or biophysics. Experience using automated patch clamp technology in a drug screening environment is a plus.
Other skills beneficial to this position include knowledge in cell culture techniques, assay development, as well as experience in technical support.
Strong communication, interpersonal, & organizational skills are required.
Language skills required: Chinese and English, fluent in speech and writing.

Nanion Technologies is a rapidly-growing instrumentation company offering automated ion channel screening workstations serving industry and academic research institutions. Nanion has several product families consisting of instruments, software and consumables for planar, automated electrophysiology. Following the successful market introduction of two automated patch clamp devices, the Port-a-Patch (2004) and the Patchliner (2006), Nanion now introduces the SyncroPatch 96. Nanion's Patchliner and Port-a-Patch platforms enjoy great popularity in both academic and industrial settings and have received enthusiastic user feedback in customer surveys such as the HTStec report. Building on their success, the new SyncroPatch 96 vastly increases throughput while reducing the cost per data point to a level compatible with industrial ion channel screening requirements.
In the end of 2008, Nanion set up its US-office in New Brunswick, NJ, to cover the increasing demand for sales&support in the US- and Canadian markets. A a fully equipped demo site in New Jersey has been established and is operational since early 2009.
Nanion is looking for a Senior Application Scientist to join the US branch of Nanion. The successful candidate will contribute to the marketing and sales activities including lead generation and handling, product demonstrations, installation trainings and trade show participation.
