24.11.2017: New Port-a-Patch paper on the inhibitory effect of an antitumor-analgesic peptide on NaV1.4 and NaV1.5

Title: "A mutant of the Buthus martensii Karsch antitumor-analgesic peptide exhibits reduced inhibition to hNaV1.4 and hNaV1.5 channels while retaining analgesic activity"

The scorpion toxin AGAP (antitumor-analgesic peptide) shows a toxic effect on skeletal and cardiac muscle function as it blocks specific sodium channels. The authors generated a mutant of the peptide and evaluated the blocking effect on Sodium channels using the Port-a-Patch, as well as the analgesic activity executing in vivo studies, in comparison to the non-mutated peptide.
