Finding the right conditions for your assay is important for any successful research program. When you choose to work with Nanion, you will get access to over 30 MSc and PhD level scientists to support experiments, including experienced support for assay development. Transferability from lower to higher throughput

For some projects, data from just a few cells may be required, whereas for others a screening a large compound library of hundreds or thousands of compounds may be necessary. You want to be sure that the solutions, cell preparation and voltage protocols are optimal before using precious reagents, cells and consumables. Before embarking on a large compound screen, you can optimize the conditions on the Port-a-Patch or Patchliner and easily transfer the assay to the SyncroPatch 384. In addition, you can use individual wells of the Patchliner and the SyncroPatch 384 in 32-well mode to make your assay development as cost effective as possible.

Find the right consumable

Cells vary in their size and membrane fragility, as well as ion channel expression levels. That's why the NPC chips for the Port-a-Patch, Port-a-Patch mini, Patchliner and SyncroPatch 384 are available with different resistances and as single or multiple holes in each well. Larger patch clamp apertures, i.e. lower resistance are required for cells with a larger size, whereas smaller apertures (higher resistance) are preferable for small or fragile cells. For transiently transfected cells or where current size is small, multiple holes in each well can be beneficial to amplify the current response. Additionally, specialized NPC-384 chips for the SyncroPatch 384 are available for fluoride-free experiments which can be important for some experiments.

NSP-96 plates for the CardioExcyte 96 are available in different sizes and as transparent plates for combining optical readouts with contractility. Sensors for the SURFE2R N1 and MECA 4 recording chips for the Orbit mini are available in different sizes and the MECA 4 Fluo recording chips are compatible with simultaneous fluorescent measurements. The type of consumable is simply chosen at the time of ordering and our specialists are happy to advise you on the right consumable for your experiments.
