Nanion is a leading provider of automated patch clamp (APC) electrophysiology systems with throughput capabilities ranging from a single cell up to fully automated high throughput screening (HTS) instruments recording from 384 cells simultaneously. Founded in 2002, Nanion has expanded its product range over the years to include in vitro systems for membrane pump and transporter recordings, bilayer recordings, and contractility measurements (impedance) from beating monolayers of cells, e.g. induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiac myocytes (iPSC-CMs), and confluency measurements of, e.g. hepatocytes for hepatotox screening using impedance.

Nanion’s instruments combine high performance with user-friendly interfaces making them an ideal choice for academia, biotechnology, CROs and the Pharma industry. Our systems have been proven to be suitable for cell lines, primary cells and stem cell-derived cells such as cardiomyocytes and neurons. Cardiac safety testing, hepatotoxicity and physiological and pathophysiological ion channel analysis can be accomplished using our instruments for APC, impedance and multielectrode array (MEA)-like extracellular field potential (EFP) recordings. We are an experienced and dynamic team of electrophysiologists, engineers and software developers, dedicated to developing versatile tools for ion channel research and drug development in the fields of safety pharmacology, toxicology, structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies and efficacy studies.
