BR – different light intensities on the SURFE2R N1
SURFE2R N1 data and applications:
Light induced currents have been measured at different light intensities. The SURFE2R N1 SOLs standard green LED is able to satturate BR activity at ~ 100 mA.

Target (Synonyms): BR, Bacteriorhodopsin
Family / Type: Ion-translocating Microbial Rhodopsin Family (MRF, TCDB: 3.E.1)
Mode of transport: light-driven H+ pump
Organism: Halobacterium salinarum
Sample: purple membrane preparation
Expression: Native
Platform: SURFE2R N1
Background and Assay Description:
One single sensor covered with a BR containing purple membrane preparation has been used for subsequent measurements with different light intensities from 5 mA to 150 mA. SOLs green light LED plate (λmax = 530 ± 10 nm) was used as the light stimulus. The duration of the light stimulus was 100 ms. When the peak currents are plotted against the LEDs operating current, a saturation behaviour is observed, proving that the SURFE2R SOL standard LED plates have sufficient power to saturate the light-driven BR transport activity.
