Nanion Technologies is a rapidly growing instrumentation company offering automated ion channel screening workstations serving industry and academic research institutions. To support the increasing demand of Nanion’s products, and to provide premium customer service, Nanion is expanding the team in the US.


We are looking for Sales Executive to join the US branch located in Livingston, New Jersey. This person will be responsible for accelerating the growth and market penetration of high throughput screening instrumentation across the North American market. The position will work directly with senior management, as well as, supporting sales, marketing and product development teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide regular interface with customers, visiting target sites, giving product presentations and assessing needs of potential new business clients both in-person and via phone.
  • Identify market expansion opportunities and optimize product positioning for target markets and ensures that the region achieves sales at or above target levels.
  • Communicate clearly via periodic activity reports the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to management and other sales leaders.
  • Ensures all clients are knowledgeable about Nanion products and services through sales and marketing efforts that include regular sales calls to develop relationships and formal presentations with current and prospective clients.
  • Responds to all client needs and follows up on all business requests in a timely manner.
  • Completing timely sales entries to CRM or sales/knowledge management database after making direct client calls, periodic emails and direct contact activity.
  • Engage with Product, Technology, Strategy, Sales Support, Marketing and other Strategic Solutions leaders to understand and effectively communicate the value of our products and services.
  • Operate as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to customer needs
  • Build and maintain strong long-lasting customer relationships
  • Participates in industry conferences and tradeshows to identify and meet prospective clients and increase industry awareness of Nanion portfolio of products and services.

Your Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of and background in business development principles and processes
  • Excellent knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry related to HTS and automated patch clamp technology
  • Ability to actively pursue assignments and evaluate potential business situations

We are excited to announce that Nanion Inc. USA is expanding. We’re looking to hire a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join our US branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical support and service.

As a member of Nanion Inc. USA, you will be responsible for responding to technical calls including periodic maintenance, service calls and support, new installations and troubleshooting at customer sites, as well as, in the Nanion office/lab. This includes being in charge of coordinating and scheduling all technical visits, remote support and inventory management in collaboration with both the Scientific team at Nanion Inc. and our Service Manager in Germany.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently and have a strong and relevant technical-troubleshooting background. They should also be able to maintain a close professional relationship with customers and be detail-oriented.

This position is located in Livingston, New Jersey,USA.

Primary Functions

  • You’ll be the customer’s primary support and service contact for all incoming technical requests.
  • You will work independently while performing installations, Preventative Maintenance, on-site service and troubleshooting.
  • You’ll be in charge of providing detailed reports and analysis of visits including suggestive actions and improvements, and make sure that all relevant information is documented and maintained in our support and service platform, KMS (knowledge management system).
  • You’ll also be required to track and insure that all service is performed within specific contractual SLA.

Your Qualifications

  • Prior field service experience of 3+ years is required. Experience from the life science fields is a plus. BS or MS in Engineering preferred.
  • English fluency in both speech and writing. The applicant should have excellent ability to work independently, document customer experience with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • You should be able to to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to frequently travel around the territory 35-75% of the time, with occasional travel outside the area, covering the Americas (NA and LATAM).
  • Knowledge of Automated Patch Clamp and liquid handling platforms/robotics are a huge plus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for applications support for existing customers, and training for new customers. Duties will also include participation in product demonstrations, installations, and tradeshows with other members of the support team. He/she will also be cross trained to perform minor service tasks.

We are looking for a Marketing and Sales Assistant to work alongside our Marketing Manager in our Munich HQ. You will assist the marketing manager and team in its daily marketing activities.

The position includes:

  • Assistance in organizing promotional material for events, exhibitions and/or digital campaigns (webinars, User Meetings, movies etc.)
  • Composition and posting online content on the website and social media accounts

Nanion Technologies is looking for a passionate PhD candidate to work on functional characterization of neurotransmitter transporters using a novel electrophysiological approach.

Nanion Technologies is a biotechnology company providing analytical instruments for electrophysiological research, drug discovery and safety screening. Nanion was founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the Center of Nanoscience (CeNS) at the Ludwig-Maximillian University (LMU) in Munich and has expanded largely over the years counting today more than 100 employees worldwide. Nanion’s focus is automation and upscaling of electrophysiological techniques, with the core competence being high-throughput patch clamp electrophysiology. All Nanion devices are built and tested in-house in close collaboration of expert electrophysiologists, software and electrical engineers, and boasts a wide international network of universities as well as biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Nanion’s headquarter is located in Munich (Germany) and is well equipped with cell-culture and wet-lab facilities.

Nanion and the NeuroTrans ITN

The successful candidate will be part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) ‘NeuroTrans’ within the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission. ‘NeuroTrans’ is a consortium of nine universities and five industrial entities in Germany, Portugal, Denmark, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom. The position will be located at the Nanion Headquarters in Munich. It involves secondments at the Ludwigs-Maximilians University Munich and the University of Regensburg.

Aim of the study is the functional characterization of the neurotransmitter transporters SERT, DAT and GAT which are responsible for the transport of Serotonin, Dopamin and GABA within neurons. The main technique used will be solid-supported membrane-based electrophysiology, which is adopted in Nanion’s SURFE2R devices. The candidate will be also involved in further development of this technology to accelerate assay development for neurotransmitter transporter characterization.

Candidate Profile:

  • Candidates holding an MSc degree with a solid background in function and kinetics of transporters, membrane biophysics and/or electrophysiology are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience using transporter assays and/or electrophysiological techniques is highly desirable.
  • Applicants will be enrolled in a PhD program, and must be willing to travel and work in collaborators laboratories.
  • Candidates with German nationality are excluded from applying for this specific position but are strongly invited to apply for positions with partners of the consortium outside Germany.

This person will be selling Nanion Technologies’ high throughput screening instrumentation across the Japanese market. The Sales Representative will work with a team of dedicated colleagues supporting Nanion’s customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify sales opportunities in pharmaceutical companies and academia.
