15.01.2018: Nanion celebrates its 16th birthday today!

Celebrating a birthday is not only a good reason to look back, but also to look forward to what lies ahead.

On the one hand Nanion is known for its innovation, and on the other hand also for its stability and high performance.

This is an old picture from the Biophysics Booth back in 2003 with the young faces of Michael George (CTO), Andrea Brüggemann (CSO) and Niels Fertig (CEO).

The picture was taken by Frank Henrichsen, who is now Director of Global Sales @ Nanion. You will see the same faces at this year’s Biophysics Booth (#629), just a little older and wiser and perhaps a bit more formally dressed.

But maybe not quite as formal as seen here together with the (former) German Federal President, Joachim Gauck. This picture is from 2014 when Nanion was nominated for the 2nd time for the “Deutscher Zukunftspreis”, awarded for the most outstanding innovation in Germany.

Stability and Innovation

Nanion´s core business is automated electrophysiology. After breaking even in 2004, only shortly after our start, the company has been growing organically ever since with significant annual growth rates. With the SURFE2R product family, Nanion’s portfolio has been extended to transporter assay technology. The introduction of the CardioExcyte 96 has enabled the study of cardiac cells and tissue, combining impedance and extracellular field potential recordings from the same well.

In total, Nanion has installed more than 1000 systems globally.

Nanion has always had a great and very committed team of scientists, engineers and other professionals. Today, there are more than 20 PhD-level electrophysiologists at Nanion. Many have been at Nanion since the early days, including Sonja Stoelzle-Feix and Claudia Haarmann, as well as Matthias Beckler and Juergen Steindl from engineering, and all have contributed to the success of Nanion for over a decade.

So today, we are proudly and very happily celebrating our 16th birthday and also want to say “thank you!” to all of our team, as well as our collaborators, business partners and customers! It was a great ride so far and we are very much looking forward to working together with you in the years to come!

Thanks and cheers,

Your Nanion Team
