23.02.2018: New Port-a-Patch publication in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics

Title: "Targeting KCa1.1 channels with a scorpion venom peptide for the therapy of rat models of rheumatoid arthritis"

Christine Beeton's lab at the Baylor College of Medicine have used the Port-a-Patch to record from patient-derived fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) with rheumatoid arthritis and rat FLS cells with different models of arthritis. Block of KCa1.1 by the scorpion venom, iberiotoxin (IbTX), reduced disease severity in the rat models could prove the basis for a new therapeutic agent to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Congratulations to all involved on an outstanding paper!
