“Tell us your story- how did your path lead you to Nanion Technologies?”

I am trained as a neuroscientist. I worked in different topics ranging from learning and memory, neurodevelopment, addiction and stress, and epilepsy. All topics require brain cells to communicate with each other, and electrophysiology is the most functional relevant tool to study neuronal communications. I had a chance to start my electrophysiology journey in my graduate school. In my postdoctoral training, I joined an electrophysiology-heavy laboratory to study physiological mechanisms of epilepsy and migraine using mouse brain slices. The COVID-19 pandemic gave me some downtime to reflect my purpose of life and to finish some courses in business and communication. It was clear to me that being a postdoc forever was not an option. Then I asked what would be a career that could give me opportunities to fulfill my broad interests in science and develop additional skills. One night I saw a Nanion job post on LinkedIn. It seemed to be something I could do, and it accepted LinkedIn Easy Apply with no need of a cover letter. I hit apply and then started to draft my cover letter. Before I finished my cover letter, I landed at Nanion.

“Knowing what you know now, what 3 pieces of advice would you give your 21-year-old self?”

1. Life runs in a spectrum instead of black and white. Ask another why and how things may look different.
2. Live in the moment and celebrate tiny victories.
3. Embrace changes/challenges and use them to build resilience.

“One Last Question- what’s the coolest thing about your job?”

In addition to the great team and a variety of duties, the coolest thing about my job would be the opportunity to work with scientists who are doing really cool research, to learn about their research, and to help them to do what they want to do using Nanion’s various technologies.
