Introducing Dr. Filip Van Petegem  (University of British Columbia)

On this episode of the podcast we spoke with Dr. Filip Van Petegem about his journey starting as a structural biologist, to the work his lab is currently focused on. Van Petegem Lab studies the structure and function of ion channels, membrane protein responsible for electrical signaling in excitable cells. Their current projects involve voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels, as well as Ryanodine Receptors which he recently published a paper in Nature; read it here.
