Field Service Engineer,
Livingston, New Jersey

Nanion Technologies is a rapidly growing instrumentation company offering automated ion channel screening workstations serving industry and academic research institutions. To support the increasing demand of Nanion’s products, and to provide premium customer service, Nanion is expanding the Service team based in Livingston, New Jersey.

Position Summary

Under guidance of the Service Manager, the candidate will be responsible for responding to technical calls including periodic maintenance, service calls and support, new installations and troubleshooting at customer sites, as well as, in the Nanion office/lab. This includes being in responsible for coordinating and scheduling all technical visits, remote support in collaboration with the whole Scientific team at Nanion and the Service Manager.

The position is entry-mid level.

The successful candidate can work independently, have a strong and relevant technical troubleshooting background, able to maintain a close professional relationship with customers.

Responsibilities

  • On-site technical work: Work independently while performing installations, Preventative Maintenance, on-site service and troubleshooting.
  • Support/Customer contact: Being the customer’s primary support and service contact for all incoming technical requests (Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatics and Micro fluidics).
  • When not traveling: Work closely with the Service Manager to carry out in-house tasks and technical support.
  • Asset Management: Provide detailed reports and analysis of visits including suggestive actions and improvements, and make sure that all relevant information is documented and maintained in our Support and Asset Management platform.
  • Forecast, plan and schedule contracted activities: Track and ensure that all service is performed within specific contractual SLA.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Background with field service experience gained in industry or academia.
  • Language skills required: English, fluent in speech and writing.
  • Have documented experience working with technical customer service with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Have documented experience with CRM and Asset management,
  • The successful applicant must have the ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to travel in North America 35-75% of the time, with occasional travel to Germany for training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from the life science fields is a plus.
  • BS or MS in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Automated Patch Clamp and liquid handling platforms are a huge plus.

Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
