Solute carriers (SLCs) are not only promising targets across a variety of therapeutic areas, but also key factors in drug delivery. However, their inherently low turnover rates and lack of robust investigative technologies have long made them a challenging focus area in drug discovery. Traditional approaches using labelled ligands and substrates are often limited by sensitivity, reproducibility and cost. To address these challenges, Sygnature Discovery employs solid-supported membrane-based electrophysiology (SSME) using the SURFE²R platform. This label-free, reliable approach enables accurate quantification of ion transporter activity and supports the development of sensitive, reproducible assays for SLCs.

In addition to being well suited for transport research SSME allows investigation of activity and response of targets to drugs in their native environment and orientation, thus presenting itself as a great tool for lysosomal targets investigation, both transporters and channels alike.
