Reflecting on 2025: a year of science and collaboration

As we begin 2026 and celebrate Nanion’s 24th anniversary, we take a moment to reflect on a year marked by scientific progress, global collaboration, and open exchange across the ion channel and membrane protein community.

2025 was a standout year for the field, and a reminder that meaningful progress is strongest when driven by open dialogue between academia, CROs, and industry.

2025 at a glance

A breakout year for ion channels

From first-in-class and non-opioid analgesics to advances across TRP, KATP, NMDA, and CaV targets, 2025 marked one of the strongest years for ion channel drug development in decades.

Advancing challenging targets

A key focus at Nanion was making difficult-to-access targets easier to study experimentally. This included continued progress in organellar electrophysiology, expanded lyso-patch assays, and the introduction of optical stimulation combined with high-throughput electrophysiology.

A global scientific community

  • 13 co-authored peer-reviewed publications

  • 150+ publications supported by Nanion instruments

  • Participation in 50+ conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings worldwide

Growing scientific exchange

The Membrane Physiology Symposium expanded globally in 2025, with meetings in Napa Valley, Tokyo, and Shanghai. These events created dedicated spaces for in-depth discussion, knowledge exchange, and new collaborations.

Nanion User Meeting

From hands-on workshops to our largest-ever Nanion User Meeting in Munich, direct exchange with users remained central to how we work, learn, and innovate.

Looking ahead

As we move into 2026, we remain committed to building robust tools, reliable workflows, and long-term collaborations that support high-quality science, and to continuing the conversations that move the field forward.
