Inositol-Triphosphate 3 Receptor | InsP3R
Family:
Inositol-Triphosphate 3 Receptor
Topology and members:
The InsP3R contains six transmembrane regions. Four subunits are forming a homotetramer in humans.Three different members are known in humans: InsP3R type 1 - InsP3R type 3.
Regulation and Function:
InsP3R is a membrane glycoprotein complex acting as Ca2+ channel, activated by inositol-triphosphate. InsP3R is an intracellular channel that mediates calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum and is necessary for the control of cellular and physiological processes including cell division, cell proliferation, apoptosis, fertilization, development, behavior, learning and memory.
