24.03.2020: Meet Jason Villagomez - Employee interview

Tell us your story- how did your path lead you to Nanion Technologies?

Although I've only started working at Nanion fairly recently (February 2020), the connection to the company spans well over a year and a half. At that time, I was still working as an Account Manager for ResearchGate (which is a global social media platform solely for Researchers and Clinicians). There, I managed a marketing portfolio for clients from around the world; from leading liquid handling manufacturers to service providers working in CRISPR/Cas9, to a Munich-based leader championing work in ion channel research. From an early age I was fascinated by science and technology and now being able to work alongside distinguished researchers is a true privilege for me.

As Marketing Manager at Nanion, I am excited to apply the wealth of knowledge I hold in the digital ecosystem of our industry. I am excited to create impactful story archs and deliver value to our collaborators.

240320 Blog Image Diversity collage jasonJason is well travelled and originally comes from the New York Metropolitan area (Lower Fairfield County, Connecticut to be exact). Described in three words: adventurous, generous, football. Adventurous: always keen to discover a new hike: Here, you see Jason experiencing beautiful Berchtesgaden in the German Alps‘,  enjoying a Thanksgiving day meal away from home with friends, and attending a local football match for 1. FC Nürnberg

Knowing what you know now, what 3 pieces of advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

  • Patience is a virtue; give yourself time to think things thoroughly before jumping to conclusions
  • Create experiences. Don't miss an opportunity to try something new
  • Don't take things so seriously. What may seem like adversity today could be a blessing in disguise in the future.

One Last Question- what’s the coolest thing about your job?

This may sound like a cliché but without a doubt, my coworkers. As a Marketing Manager coming from a traditional business/entrepreneural background, it can be easy to get caught up and feel overwhelmed with the nuances of the technolgy. From day 1 my colleagues were all beyond helpful and supportive; from suggesting districts to live in and aiding in the relocation process to a handy "see-and-do" list for Munich.
